What's New for the 2019 Honda Fit?

The 2019 model year finds the Fit — Honda’s subcompact hatchback — in its third generation of production. It remains the king of subcompacts due to its enviable blend of abundant interior space, excellent fuel economy, and impressive collection of tech and safety features. The availability of automatic high beams is the only change made to the 2019 model. It is split into four trims: LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L. Powering the 2019 Honda Fit is a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. It is either paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, which enables an output of 130 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque; or a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which enables an output of 128 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque. Notably, the CVT is standard on the top-level EX-L trim and provides the peak fuel economy numbers on the Honda Fit (33 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway) **; it’s optional on the other trims. A five-seater, this five-door car provides a passenger volume of 95.7 cubic feet on the LX and Sport and 93.8 cubic feet on the EX and EX-L. Although standard cargo volume is measured 16.6 cubic feet, you have the option of expanding it into the cabin for a maximum space of 52.7 cubic feet by folding down the rear seats. For front-seat heating and leather upholstery, go with the EX-L trim.

Standard comfort and convenience features on the 2019 Fit include cruise control, a driver information display, Bluetooth® 1 wireless technology for hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, a four-speaker 160-watt audio system, a USB port for playing media from mobile devices, and a 5-inch color LCD screen. The Sport trim level introduces a six-speaker 180-watt audio system (in place of the four-speaker), hands-free text messaging ability, HondaLink® 2 remote connectivity, an additional USB data port, Android Auto™ 3 and Apple CarPlay™ 4 for smartphone integration, and a 7-inch touchscreen. If you go with the EX or EX-L, you will also get push-button engine start and a trial subscription to SiriusXM® satellite radio. Standard features on the 2019 Honda Fit include hill start assist, vehicle stability assist with traction control, a four-wheel anti-lock disc braking system, daytime running lights, a multi-angle rearview camera, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, and six airbags (two front impact airbags, two front seat-mounted airbags, and two roof-mounted side curtain airbags). Exclusive to the EX and EX-L are auto high-beam headlight technology, Honda LaneWatch™ for sideview expansion, and the Honda Sensing® driver-assistance tech suite (which includes adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, and road departure mitigation).
